Episode #8 - Spotted - This Week in Healthcare

It's time for the healthcare weekly round-up 📢📢

📌 Welcome to Edition #8 of "Spotted! - This Week in Healthcare", and I'm your host: Vivek Nanda.

Each week I share the interesting things that I spotted in the world of healthcare.

And, here we go...

Edition #8

--------

You might have seen the recent news about the takedown of online telehealth ADHD prescribing platform - Done, whose founders were arrested on criminal charges.

There is nothing more shameful than the way Done exploited patients, providers, and even its own employees.

If there is one thing that came out of this whole saga it is that -

Internal corporate governance needs to reflect the need for clinical voices to be heard in any healthcare services or tech-enabled services firm.

Clinical staff should be able to push back against dangerous protocols within the company when they are affecting patient care.

 --------

The American Medical Association (AMA) has accepted a new CPT Appendix S for classifying artificial intelligence/augmented intelligence (AI) applications for medical services and procedures.

This new taxonomy will help standardize the use and billing of AI tools in healthcare.
